Sixth Form
Students have the opportunity to produce a portfolio of exciting, sophisticated work developed through a process of experimentation, research and idea development. Work is informed by a knowledge and understanding of contemporary and historical artworks, gained from visits to nearby international art galleries and further afield. In the autumn term students have the opportunity to participate in a study tour, which includes trips to the Venice Biennale, Basel and Copenhagen. The fine art course covers areas of study including drawing, painting, mixed media, installation and sculpture. Through the course students develop a mature understanding of the creative process and how this can help with problem solving. Each year, many students decide to take an Art foundation course prior to a specialist degree course in the field of art and design. Others apply to study art-related degrees such as architecture and art history.
