Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
As a school, we have both a statutory and moral duty to provide students in Years 7 to 13 with high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG).
This is a vital part of the curriculum. We believe all young people should be encouraged and supported to move towards a future career that is right for them—one that is both fulfilling and provides economic wellbeing.
At Beverley High School, every student is entitled to impartial information, advice and guidance, and should be aware of the resources available to support them.
As students move from adolescence into adulthood, they are supported to develop:
- A strong awareness of themselves, including their strengths, areas for development, interests and preferences
- An understanding of the opportunities available to them at key transition points, particularly at age 16, and how these align with their individual skills and aspirations
- The skills needed for effective decision-making and action planning
- Positive attitudes, including self-confidence, resilience, independence and responsibility for their choices
Preparing for the Future
The world of work is changing rapidly, and young people must be prepared to adapt. Within a decade of leaving school, many students may be working in roles that do not yet exist or using technologies that have yet to be developed.
Developing flexibility, a willingness to embrace change, and a commitment to lifelong learning are key factors in future success. Encouraging these qualities begins in school.
Alumni Pathways
Through the Knowledge Hub, students can access a range of videos from former students sharing their career journeys and experiences.
For example:

Mel shares her journey from Beverley High School and the Joint Sixth Form to studying History at Oxford University.
