Tutor Time
Tutor Time
Tutor time takes place every morning and lasts for 15 minutes.
This time is valuable, and we aim to use it to create a calm, focused and purposeful start to the day.
Each year group follows its own programme, which includes tutor reading, Big Ideas, a quiz, and an assembly. Some year groups also take part in a weekly journaling session, giving students time to reflect and develop their thoughts in a structured way.
Our values badge is at the centre of the programme, as we share examples of compassion, leadership, courage and other key values in action through the people, cultures and events we study.
Our Tutor Reading programme introduces students to a wide range of literary texts from different genres and authors. Students listen to an expert reader guiding them through each text, exploring both themes and complex vocabulary. Each year group follows its own catalogue of texts, including Refugee Boy, Private Peaceful, Around the World in Eighty Days, Noughts and Crosses, and We Should All Be Feminists.
From Years 7 to 11, students explore 28 different Big Ideas, including racism, Indigenous peoples and feminism. Each presentation is recorded in-house and lasts approximately eight minutes.
