Inspiring a love of learning

“Inspiring a love of learning”

‘The lessons and the teachers are really good and I’ve made so many more friends since starting the sixth form’ Emily, Year 12

‘I’ve been able to achieve a level of independence but still rely on the support of staff I know when I’ve needed it’ Beth, Year 13

‘To begin with I was nervous about meeting new people but everyone has been welcoming. The subjects I chose are right for me and the teachers are helpful. Coming here was the right decision’ A new student who started in Yr 12

“I taught in several schools and I was only blessed with sons but I firmly believe that if I had a daughter I would want her to go to this school because I am aware at first hand of the dedication of all of its staff to the care and education of the girls. This school does realise that it is precious cargo that it carries.” A former teacher

Physical Education contributes to the overall education of the pupils by helping them to lead full and valuable lives through engaging in purposeful physical activity.

It can:

  • Develop physical competence and help to promote physical development.
  • Teach pupils about the varied activities to promote life-long learning.
  • Develop an appreciation of skilful and creative performances across the wide range of activities offered.
  • Help to establish self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and help pupils to cope with success and failure in competitive and co-operative activities.
  • Increase the development of social awareness and values through interaction with others.
  • Improve the health and well-being of the individual.

Not all children develop at the same speed but through a broad curriculum the pupils are able to develop at their own pace and achieve success.

The girls first match was against an unexpected boys team who came from Headlands; it was a great match to start with as the boys skills and speed around the pitch were outstanding but our girls certainly matched this, we lost 2-1 in the end. The next two games were against Longcroft and Driffield, where the girls maintained a high level of skill and effort throughout and managed to beat both teams.

Well done to all the girls who played and showed fantastic determination, effort and focus for the whole tournament.Holly Singleton, Mia Rawlins, Katie Percival, Grace Lines, Chloe Wilson, Maya Brown, Victoria Simmons, Nina Evison and Harriet Acklam.

Well done to all concerned, the makings of a strong team.

Year 9 Netball - 28th March 2017

On Tuesday 28th March nine Year 9 girls represented the school in the Year 9 End of Season Netball Tournament at Cottingham High School. Twelve schools from across the East Riding competed in a two pool tournament.  The girls competed exceptionally well with Leonora Brittain and Katie Kelly working collaboratively to score 22 goals across the tournament.  The formidable defensive pairing of Rebecca Johnson and Liberty Packham kept the opposition at bay conceding only 14 goals all tournament (13 of from the games against the two finalists).  The five girls who rotated around the centre court positions demonstrated excellent team work and communication skills to work the ball out of defence and into the attack.

The team qualified comfortably for the semi final, but lost a very closely fought contest by just one goal.  An excellent performance from all concerned, showing positive team spirit and sportsmanship.

Year 8 Netball - 30th March 2017

The recent tournament at Longcroft saw the team win against Howden, Bridlington, Woldgate, South Holderness and Wolfreton.

They beat Hornsea in the semi final but lost in the final against South Hunsley.

They all played amazingly well and should be very proud.

Well Done!
