Inspiring a love of learning

“Inspiring a love of learning”

‘The lessons and the teachers are really good and I’ve made so many more friends since starting the sixth form’ Emily, Year 12

‘I’ve been able to achieve a level of independence but still rely on the support of staff I know when I’ve needed it’ Beth, Year 13

‘To begin with I was nervous about meeting new people but everyone has been welcoming. The subjects I chose are right for me and the teachers are helpful. Coming here was the right decision’ A new student who started in Yr 12

“I taught in several schools and I was only blessed with sons but I firmly believe that if I had a daughter I would want her to go to this school because I am aware at first hand of the dedication of all of its staff to the care and education of the girls. This school does realise that it is precious cargo that it carries.” A former teacher

6th Form Newsletter - Autumn 2014-15

Welcome from Head teachers

We are both very proud to lead the Beverley Joint Sixth Form. Beverley High School and Beverley Grammar School established the Joint Sixth Form over thirty years ago and since then we have provided high quality post-16 education to thousands of young people. We are proud of the academic traditions of the Joint Sixth Form and of the successes of our sixth form students. The Beverley Joint Sixth frequently achieves the best A Level results in the area. Many of our students secure university places and go on to pursue very successful careers.

We hope that you will become one of our future students and be part of our continued success. Gillian Todd – Headteacher, Beverley Grammar School, Sharon Japp – Headteacher, Beverley High School

Welcome from Head Boy & Girl

The Beverley Joint Sixth Form offers you so many opportunities both academic and social. The great variety of subjects offered allows you to follow your own ambitions in a convenient timetable. The added experience of being at two schools allows you to experience two different styles of teaching per subject which not only makes the subject itself more interesting but gives you extra support for when you need it. The enrichment options available give you both academic and non-academic achievements which you can carry with you for the rest of your life. Although the academic opportunities are amazing, one of the best parts of being at the sixth form is the brand new social life. Studying together in free periods, popping into the local cafes, making new friends, going out to parties and just in general having a whole load of laughs. We can’t remember having so much fun in a year before and we’ll have so much more before the year is out and we move on. Come to this sixth form and have two of the best years of your life!
